The right size, background and weight
Government photo rules are fiddly: an exact pixel size, a plain light background, and often a maximum file size in KB. This tool takes a normal head-and-shoulders photo and outputs it at the official dimensions for common visa and passport applications, on the background colour you choose.
Add an optional KB limit and it will also compress to fit. Built-in presets cover the US (2×2 in / 600×600), Schengen/EU/UK (35×45 mm), India, China and Canada, plus a custom pixel size for anything else.
How to use it
- Drop a clear, front-facing photo with your head centred.
- Pick your country/preset (or enter custom pixels) and a background colour.
- Optionally set a max KB, click Create Photo, and download.
Frequently asked questions
Does this guarantee my photo will be accepted?
It produces the correct pixel dimensions, background and file size, which are the common technical requirements. Always check your specific portal rules on head position, expression and lighting - this tool cannot judge those.
It cropped part of my photo - why?
Presets fill the exact frame, so the photo is scaled to cover the target and centred. Use the Crop tool first if you want to control framing precisely, then run it through here.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Resizing, the background fill and compression all happen in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
