Compress JPG, PNG & WebP - Free & Private

Shrink image file sizes with an adjustable quality slider, right in your browser. Drop one image or a whole batch - nothing is ever uploaded.

Make image files smaller without the upload

Photos straight from a phone or camera are often several megabytes - too big to email, attach to a form, or upload to a website. This tool re-encodes your JPG, PNG or WebP images at a quality level you choose, cutting the file size dramatically while keeping them looking good.

Everything happens locally in your browser, so even confidential scans and ID photos stay on your device. Drop several images at once and they come back as a tidy ZIP.

How to use it

  1. Drop one or more JPG, PNG or WebP images (or click to browse).
  2. Drag the quality slider - lower means a smaller file. 80% is a good balance.
  3. Click Compress Images, check the preview, and download.
🔒 100%% private. Your images are processed entirely in your browser using the Canvas API - they are never uploaded to any server. You can even run this tool offline.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my image get?

It depends on the original and the quality you pick, but JPEG photos commonly shrink by 50-80%. The status line shows the exact before-and-after size.

Does compressing reduce quality?

JPEG and WebP compression is lossy, so very low settings can soften detail. At 75-85% the difference is usually invisible for screens and printing. PNG re-encoding is lossless but saves less; tick Convert PNG to JPEG for bigger savings.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Compression runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never sent to a server, which is why it also works offline.
