Beat the upload limit
Visa applications, passport renewals, job portals and government websites often demand a photo under 240 KB, between 10 and 200 KB, or some other strict ceiling. Guessing quality settings to hit that number is frustrating - this tool does it for you.
It automatically searches for the highest quality that still fits your target size, and if the image still will not fit at readable quality, it gently reduces the dimensions until it does. Everything is processed privately in your browser.
How to use it
- Drop your image.
- Type the maximum size and choose KB or MB (e.g. 200 KB).
- Click Compress to Target Size - the result lands at or just under your limit.
Frequently asked questions
How does it hit an exact size?
It uses a binary search over JPEG/WebP quality to find the best setting that stays under your target. If needed, it also scales the image down a little to fit very tight limits.
What if my limit is too small for the photo?
The tool reports the smallest size it could reach while keeping the image readable. For very tight limits, try a smaller starting image or crop it first.
Is my photo uploaded?
Never. All optimisation happens in your browser, so sensitive documents and ID photos stay on your device.
